Keep in mind that even your best gallon water bottles are going to weigh more, which means balance is important. Whether the bottle is in your car, positioned on your motorcycle or you’re carrying it by hand, accidents will occur.

It is important that you can properly handle the weight of the bottle (ranging approximately 5 pounds to 15 pounds) on whatever is keeping it upright and in place. Test the bottle out early on to take advantage of any warranties.

It is strongly recommended to carry the bottle around in safe spaces (work and/or home) before taking it out in a place where water is scarce and there’s no backup plan. And definitely try water instead of other types of drinks (eg. iced tea or power drinks) the first couple of times. So even if it spills, at least it just wets the area and doesn’t damage your clothes, backseats, trunks, etc.
